From The New England Journal of Medicine
McCarthy, a pathologist, and Frassica, an orthopedic surgeon, both at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, have collaborated to produce an eminently readable and informative book. In the introduction they state that the book is designed to be an introductory textbook for residents in pathology and orthopedic surgery and that it represents the minimum that such residents should aspire to learn during their residency. The authors have succeeded admirably in this plan. They present the entire spectrum of radiologic and pathological features of diseases of the bones and joints in logical sequence. The text is lucidly written, and the book can easily be read from cover to cover. This comprehensive and current book could be a useful addition to the libraries of practicing general orthopedic surgeons, radiologists, and pathologists as well as of those with a more specialized interest in the field.

The first chapter, an overview of skeletal diseases, emphasizes the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis of these diseases. It is followed by an elegantly illustrated and valuable review of the anatomy and physiology of bone. The succeeding chapters are devoted to detailed clinical, radiologic, and pathological features of bone and joint diseases, grouped into several disease categories. A later chapter reviews joint arthroplasty, including historical aspects and the features of failed prostheses. The final chapter gives practical advice on biopsy techniques and on the handling of surgical specimens. The success of such a book depends on high-quality images, and the carefully chosen illustrations -- radiologic images and gross and microscopical specimens -- are indeed of excellent quality.

The locations of certain neoplasms described in the text, however, do not always correspond precisely to the locations depicted in the diagrams of the skeleton; for instance, lymphomas are described as occurring more frequently in jawbones but not illustrated this way. The text is accurate, with only a rare exception. In discussing the relation of osteofibrous dysplasia to adamantinoma, the authors state that no case of transformation of osteofibrous dysplasia to adamantinoma has been reported, but such cases have, in fact, been reported. These minor imperfections notwithstanding, this is an excellent book.

Spricht Deutsch!

One customer complained that the book was in German and he couldn't read some of it. Well, where is he visiting? Various editions of Michelin guides are written in the local language (Michelin France is written in French, Michelin Italia is written in Italian.) There are plenty of other travel guides that are written in English, if that's important, but if you want le menu complet, you should know the languages in the Michelin guides. You can always take them to the front desk, if you want, since English is spoken in most places in Germany (with exceptions).

It's a great book. I gave it 4 stars because the descriptions about restaurants and lodging is only in German. Wish they would do one in English for us U.S. travelers.

Por fin encuentro EL MANUAL DE INSTRUCIONES DEL CUERPO HUMANO.
Siempre me he preguntado al igual que muchas personas donde esta el catalogo, el manual de instrucciones del cuerpo Humano y
Entra en Frecuencia ha llenado mis expectativas.
Imitando un poco el lenguaje de los carros,este libro es como la computadora del carro pero con mayor alcance,ya que no solo dianostica donde esta el problema sino que ademas lo arregla eliminando asi al mecanico.
Para empezar Entra en Frecuencia (titulo original Frequency) en la pagina 142 dice lo siguiente:"Tu vibracion personal se reduce cuando te encuentras con el miedo e intentas tratar con el mediante un habito de sentir pernicioso:a traves de los metodos de pelea o huida .Es facil quedar atascado cuando tu vibracion personal se desploma, porque las experiencias bajas provocan mas experiencias negativas".
Afortunadamente en el siguiente parrafo presenta la solucion cuando dice" Es mas facil que te liberes de las vibraciones negativas en la actualidad,ya que la frecuencia en aceleracion de tu organismo y de la Tierra hace que sea dificil mantenerse encallado durante mucho tiempo,y liberarse del miedo es mucho mas instantaneo".
Para finalizar en la pagina 21 anuncia los tratamientos a seguir.Por todo lo planteado anteriormente opino que el libro es la mejor herramienta para tratar problemas de estres y un psicologo mobil.

Absolutely fantastic, covered so much

The strange thing about this purchase, is that, I wasn't actively searching for this book but stumbled across it while looking for other books, and something said buy it.

I could have cried when I read it, it was just what I was looking for. I was already practising some of his methods, as they have always been practised in my family, but needed guidance in certain areas.

This book clarified a lot of things for me and also answered other questions I had been pondering on.

I would definetley recommend this for those who are attempting to connect with their ancestors and unsure how to proceed, or those wanting to find the correct way of doing so. Was worth every penny and more.

This is a short book but my is it powerful

Unintuitive and inconvenient.

The solutions are more like vague hints. When someone has a trouble solving a question, it means they need a heads up as to what is going on in the question and what direction they should head in. This manual instead makes unhelpful statements equivalent to just giving the answer--never explaining why. The solutions are about every third question too, which is disappointing for the price we pay. This is not a solution manual. This is more like the back of the textbook, but more detailed... I intend to burn this book when I have a spare moment...

worst solutions manual EVER! DO NOT BUY.

Like other reviewers have said, the manual does not have solutions for every problem. I'm not so bothered by that as I am by the fact that MANY times, the solutions and the problems don't even match up! Also, when you actually have a problem and solution that does match up, the solution is impossible to understand. I've done pages and pages of math homework from the text book already, and was unable to get anything useful from this book. I think it's fair to call this manual an OUTRAGE! I can't believe it's still in circulation.

This was supposed to be the solutions manual for a difficult subject. Solutions manuals give step by step solutions. This manual only does that for the simple problems. The ones you really need help with, it just gives you an answer without an explanation.
