Robert's for Dummies works!

This was actually for my wife, who is currently parliamentarian for a local non-profit organization, which she has some prior experience at. Nonetheless, as soon as the book arrived, she curled up and read it "cover to cover" and made a bunch of notes from it to share with others. Next thing I knew, she was putting her official Robert's Rules away in storage, so like many of the "Dummies" books, this seems to be the practical knowledge most of us actually need.

Preventing the arterial 'fire'.

I have been using the Bale/Doneen protocol in my own practice for some years and have had extremely few cardiac events occur. On the contrary I have seen marked plaque regression and improvement in the arterial health of many of my patients.
This book is easy to follow and shows patients that there is more to cardiac care and disease prevention than just lowering cholesterol, having stents and bypasses, and waiting for the next event to occur. Patients will feel empowered and in control instead of living in fear.
By partnering with their physicians, patients can be actively involved in their own care and improve their outcomes.
The ultimate complement that I can pay Dr Bale is that I have been fortunate to be able to engage him as my personal physician.
The Bale/Doneen method of cardiovascular disease prevention should be part of every medical school curriculum.
The standard of care aims to fix the house after it has burnt down, Bale/Doneen prevent the fire from ever starting.

A better way to save lives

Everybody who is concerned about heart attack or stroke for themselves or a loved one should read this book. Then find a doctor who will help them apply this knowledge to their individual care.

Every doctor who wants to prevent, as preferred to treat, heart attack and stroke should read this book and apply it's principles. This book is not just opinion or promoting a particular diet, exercise program or clinic like others.

It is about the practical application of vast knowledge based on data to improve your INDIVIDUAL UNIQUE PERSONAL chances to live free of heart attack and stroke. It challenges our health care system by showing you there is a better way, a more effective way that you can seek out, and by doing so drive health care to change and deliver better outcomes. It starts with life choices and supports those with the optimal medical therapy to deliver the best outcome even in the face of genetic challenges.

What a great book for health professionals, educators, patients, and anyone interested in oral health! How refreshing and enlightening to finally have an authoritative work presented to our profession and our patients that explains and documents the oral-inflammatory burden on whole-body health. Equally refreshing is the “optimal-care” platform and ideology upon which the entire book and their professional education courses, as well as their diagnostic and treatment protocols, rest. I highly recommend this ground-breaking book to dentists and dental health educators, to better understand the nature and science of inflammation and its impact on the body. I highly recommend the book to physicians and medical professionals as it explains the significance of chronic oral infections (periodontal disease specifically) and its effect on systemic disease and general health. This understanding changes everything in regards to how we approach oral health. Physicians and dentists simply must work together to co-manage their patients’ health. Patients and people in general must take more personal responsibility to manage their oral health. Lisa Rodensky is the Barbara Morris Caspersen Associate Professor in the Humanities (2011-14) at Wellesley College. She is the author of The Crime in Mind: Criminal Responsibility and the Victorian Novel (2003) and the editor of Decadent Poetry from Wilde to Naidu (2006). Her essays have appeared in Victorian Literature and Culture and Essays in Criticism. She is currently at work on an analysis of the critical vocabulary of the nineteenth-century novel review.

I mentioned in another review that at this point there is a newer book out called "Top 5 Questions to Ask Your Doctor" that lists the questions by medical condition. Scott M. Rodell provides an excellent translation of the Shi Jian Pu, and while the main focus of the book seems to be for those who currently practice with the Jian (the Chinese straight sword), Scott’s translation provides much for those who practice other arts to feed from. �Unlike many modern Martial Arts books on the market, this particular one remains true to form, much like how the originals would have been. The Inclusion of the forms historical context is great to have in the book as it allows us to better grasp the intent and function of the Jian. Scott’s many years of experience with Chinese Martial Arts is evident from the get go, as the translations are clear, precise, and aid in the overall understanding of the form. Overall I would very much recommend this book as a supplement to anyone not only practicing with the Chinese Jian, but also for those who practice other martial arts forms. This is an excellent update to a classic text that we would not normally be able to obtain. Thank you for this translation Scott; it is and will always be an absolute pleasure to read.�

A good companion to Chinese Swordsmanship

A good companion to Chinese Swordsmanship: The Yang Family Taiji Jian Tradition, by the same author. It's a relatively short book, and not really intended for beginners, but rather people who are already practicing Chinese swordsmanship, as a different perspective. It's quite interesting to see the meanings that are contained in very condensed text in the original Chinese. A good book for people interested in historical swordsmanship.

As mentioned in the foreword,it is a rare occasion when a true manuscript on Chinese historic swordsmanship is found. Even less so, one reaches the international audience. For that alone we should be grateful for this book and to the author of the translation.

As for the book itself, it is clearly not the "Chinese Swordsmanship For Dummies". At times it is as cryptic and poetic as any Chinese classical text. Very short but charming classic sword manual. If you are familiar with jian technique already you may find some very interesting insight. If you are looking for more detailed instruction to get you started I might be inclined to look to the more modern books by Yang, Jwing Ming, Scott M. Rodell, or Stuart Alve Olson.

A burgeoning literature on European nationalisms has posited that educational systems in general, and an instrumentalized version of national history in particular, have contributed decisively to the articulation and transmission of nationalist ideologies. The Spanish case reveals a different dynamic. In Spain, a chronically weak state, a divided and largely undemocratic political class, and an increasingly polarized social and political climate impeded the construction of an effective system of national education and the emergence of a consensus on the shape and meaning of the Spanish national past. This in turn contributed to one of the most striking features of modern Spanish political and cultural life--the absence of a strong sense of Spanish, as opposed to local or regional, identity. Scholars with interests in modern European cultural politics, processes of state consolidation, nationalism, and the history of education will find this book essential reading.
